Looking for an estate planning attorney?

You've been thinking about this for a long time. You always found an excuse to put it off. Life was busy. There was always something more important to do: work, daycare pick-ups and drop-offs, the grocery store, and list goes on.

Frankly, though, it didn't take much to distract you. You'd almost rather do anything than think about writing your will or drafting your estate plan.

But that's in the past. You're here now.

You've taken the first step. That's more that most people can say.

Keep the momentum going.

Every day people pass away without a plan in place. And they leave a mess for their loved ones to clean up. I'm sure you heard stories: siblings fighting over their parents' money, years spent in conflict and in court, families torn apart.

That's not going to be you. You're going to protect your family. You're going to make sure your kids are provided for.

So keep fighting the discomfort and push through. Don't let yourself get distracted or keep procrastinating. The time is now.

When you get to the other side, you'll rest easy at night knowing that you've protected your family. With your plan in place, if something were to happen to you:

  • Your children will be raised by the guardian(s) you choose, not by whomever a judge decides is best
  • Your affairs will be settled in private, not in a public court proceeding
  • Your assets will be distributed in the manner you choose, not by California's default rules
  • Your estate will save tens of thousands of dollars in unnecessary probate expenses (and possibly much more)

Hi, I'm Robert. I'm an estate planning attorney and I help people like you.

This is a picture of estate planning attorney Robert Theofanis

Let me tell you a bit about my practice and how I'm different than most trust and estate lawyers. I've designed my practice around three principles to ensure that I'm truly serving my clients. I'm invested in making sure that your plan works, that your achieve your goals. I don't just hand over will and trust documents and call it a day.

Clients First

Does this situation sound familiar? You show up to the doctor's office five minutes before your appointment. They keep you in the lobby for 20 minutes and then make you wait in the exam room for another ten. So frustrating.

Rather than structuring my practice around what's best or most convenient for me, I give my clients the option of choosing what's best or most convenient for them.

  • In-person meeting or video conference? Your call.
  • Need to wait until the kids for asleep for your consultation?  You got it.
  • Want to sign your plan at home with a mobile notary? No problem.
  •  Check or credit card? Either works.

Clients for Life

Estate planning is not a one-time activity. Once you've put a family trust in place, you need to make sure that it's properly updated for changes to your family, your assets, and the law. I recommend my clients review and, if necessary, update their estate plans about every three years.

To encourage that, my estate planning packages include the following:

  • Unlimited calls and emails for life
  • Unlimited estate plan reviews for life
  • Unlimited trust amendments for life
  • Unlimited trust restatements for life

Once you work with me, I consider you client for life. But I don't just want to be your will and trust attorney. My goal is to be your "primary-care" attorney. If you have a legal problem. I want to hear about it. If I can solve it, we'll agree on a price. If I'm not the right lawyer, I'll help you find one that is.

Transparent Flat-Fee Pricing

Too many lawyers hide the ball on pricing. They induce clients with a low up-front fee or low hourly rate. But, when the matter is over, the clients are shocked when they receive a whopping bill in the mail. When the clients object, the lawyer points to all the fine print buried in the fee agreement.

My flat fees are all inclusive. You will only pay the amount we agree to up front. You can call or email me as much as you like. It's all included.

And I don't make potential clients come in to the office for a consultation to quote them a fee. I'm happy to tell you what my plans cost. But first, let me tell you what's in it.

Here's what you get

My package includes all the documents needed to create a comprehensive estate plan to protect your family and preserve your wealth. You will receive the following:

  • Revocable living trust
  • Pour-over will
  • Durable power-of-attorney

  • HIPAA waiver
  • Final disposition instructions
  • Trust-funding toolkit
